You can see me if you're tall!

Lately I've been crazy about a new band called Yuck! I love their songs! They stay stuck on my mind!!
And when I've seen them for the first time, the singer (Daniel Blumberg) asked his little sister to come on stage for a duo and I thought it was very cute, very touching, they completely captivated me!!! Which made my friend laugh at me... Gnn!!!
Anyway, let's come back to the subjet of the day: Yuck.
Do you guys remember about a band called Cajun Dance Party? Well, they split up and we miss them but to get us a bit of consolation, singer Daniel Blumberg and bass-player Max Bloom, have formed a new band last January called Yuck. I've already seen them 3 or 4 times and can tell you they are not bad at all!!!! I like them a lot!!! :-) Proof is that they are supporting Dinosaur Jr next month at the Shepherd's Bush Empire. Waoh!
(If you don't have yr ticket yet! Bad news for you! It's too late, it's sold out! No I'm joking, go right now on WeGotTickets, they still have a few tix on there (only there, it's already sold out on See-tickets and Ticketweb), so go on, what are you waiting for, stop reading!!! Go buy yr ticket before it's too late!!!!!!)
You've got it? Well done!!! ...or bad luck if you were not fast enough!!! In that case, you'll need a bit of consolation, go on, just download my favourite song by them: Automatic.
And I'm also giving you 3 other songs by them cause I'm in a good mood today :-)
Suicide Policeman, Georgia and Sunday.
Also don't be too sad cause If you couldn't have a ticket for the Shepherd's Bush Empire show, you can still catch them tomorrow night (The Rest Is Noise) they'll be on stage around 9.30pm, and it's only £7 so you can be happy thinking you've saved money (and with this spare money, do go to Pure Groove to buy their debut album) :-)
Have a lovely week-end my littles ducks and don't forget to enjoy the sun!

You've drunk too much again! Oh dear!!!

"You know I feel a little spaced out
I can hardly feel my feet on the ground
I hear your voice from the outside
All I wander is if you care about me
Oh my God, I wish I could talk to you
And tell those things that I know by heart
Then I'll get much closer and kiss your lips
You might think I'm fresh
But if you please don't take me wrong
All I want is that you get to want me
Don't take me wrong"

Ich Habe Gebloggt!!!! ;-)

Hey my lovelies,
I'm facing busy time at the moment... it's never been so eventful... I don't even take time to sleep properly, but I'm taking time to post that for you:

Veronica Falls - Starry Eyes (Roky Erickson cover)

...Tadam! An exclusive and rare (as the single isn't out yet and we are still waiting for an album to be released soon) version of Veronica Falls's Starry Eyes. This is a beautiful cover they've made here of an original song by Roky Erickson. And I still love more the original, but anytime I keep the Veronica's one in my mind!

For more details about Veronica Falls, cf older posts.
If you like them, don't miss them playing soon with Darren Hayman (cf older posts too ;-)), who I wish all the very best to, after his 'misadventure', I must say I feel so glad he is better now!!! And they will be playing at the Royal Albert Hall. Great venue for great artists!!! So really, it's not to be missed!!! I'll be there!!!!

And don't forget on Sunday... THE YUMMY FUR return for only a handful of shows, so be at the Lexington on Sunday evening!!!! It is something absolutely awesome that you won't have the chance to catch again in your poor miserable life!!! I'm extremely excited indeed... Can't believe I'm going to see the Yummy Fur! Yooooooohooh!!!! :-)

Changes

I'm feeling different... different in a good way!!!

So the song stuck in my mind this morning is Changes
(Not Bowie's one, Tahiti 80's one! And by the way, there's a David Bowie new release coming out on January 26th, a reality tour live CD)

Changes...
Because changes are happening, it's too late to turn back. Changes are happening, the surface begins to crack. What you had in mind, it's turning into something of another kind. So just dream anything you want to say. And make up the rules for the games you choose to play!
It's now the good time to let the past behind and just go ahead! Can't you see everything is about to change... Are you ready for something new?
It's a new year starting, it's a new life starting too!

So what is going to change concretely on this blog...

- a new "I can't seem to spend a night at home" section
(containing all the masterplans for the best evenings out according to me, because let's say it: 'Time Out' is shit!)

- a new "don't let the old things change, let one more thing stay the same" section
(if you recognise the song, you'll know it refers to our favourite places in London)

- a new "naughtyfication" section
(I don't tell more for now ;-))

plus few other little updates here and there, you will see... :-)

Well, you're certainly right!

It's all about a whale... (she's feeling lonely in the sea...)

Hi everyone!
I haven't posted anything for a while now... I'm not updating this blog very seriously anymore, oops! When I started it, I promised myself I'd post something once a week... Oops! But here I am!!! I'm back today!
I've just lost myself one more time... how to explain to you?... Seems that anytimes this guy is around I'm not able to be myself anymore... I just turn into a boring mollusc... So I ran away from him, and I promise that from now on, I'll be myself!!
(It makes me sad though, when he's not around :-( but sadness makes us more creative so let's use it, and let's keep busy posting more and more music, and hopefully better days will come soon, I'll find another way to get happy ;-))

So... Once upon a time, a little whale escaped from a puddle to a pond to the sea...
She grew older, collecting lovely shells and racing seahorses, and then she got bored.
She could only feel lonely, despite everybody reminding her that "the sea is full of fishes".
So of boredom she died, all by herself!
And her soul went traveling over the sea of stars and if you listen now, you could hear her singing... singing the lone whale's song.

(Ok, I know, my little story is shit, but I just had this sudden interest for whales and wanted to tell something about a whale so I thought I'd make up a little story...)

I've heard this word at 3 occasions this week. And yet, it's been enough for me to notice it and to decree that there's something a bit odd!
Cause I think you'll all agree with me on saying that this word is not part of our usual everyday vocabulary... except maybe if you work for Seaworld Park, hahaha...
So, it started on Friday, I was listening to Modest Mouse's last album (No One's First And You're Next) and the best song on it is called "The Whale Song"
Then, on Tuesday, I had a chat about a film about whale hunting.
And finally today I went to a pub and on the wall was a picture of a whale!!!
Plus this morning I've randomized my music player and the first song coming out was the ELO's song, The Whale.
So yeah, it is quite odd, isn't it? And now I had to tell something about a whale, about all the whales!... about all the whales I've on my music library... there's not that much, just 5... but feel free to comment on this post to complete the list with your whale's songs everyone...

The Whale Song - Modest Mouse
The Whale - Electric Light Orchestra
Northern Whale - The Good The Bad And The Queen
Whale In The Sand - The Brunettes
Modern Baleine - Les Rita Mitsouko

(COMING SOON... I pomise I'll take 5 minutes to post the playlist ;-)
No, I really promise I'll post it today,... could even be now, I don't know, cause I still have 1hour before my appointment, but I feel lazy... ages I didn't have a real day off, so... ;-))

"I can't see the end!"... "but for the moment we are ok"...

Not only a song in my mind today, but all an album by a great north London trio band called Let's Wrestle.
First time I heard from them was via Your Twenties' myspace page (cf older posts), a couple of months ago, but I didn't realy pay attention until someone gave me the great "In The Court Of Wrestling Let's". Thank you very much!!!

So I've been listening to this CD all the week and saw them playing last evening and can't wait to see them again next week-end at Offset festival!!!
--- I'm so happy I can finally go there!!!! :-)) So excited that I can't concentrate on working on the next playlist I want to post ---

Let's come back to Let's Wrestle, I'm pretty sure I've seen this guy, the bass player, before but can't remember... Was he used to work in a bar somewhere?...

Anyway, I just encourage you to go and buy this CD, then sing along and clap your hands ;-)

My little picture from last night:

Couple of songs to get you to love them:
I Wont Lie To You (demo version)
I'm Ok, You're Ok

Falafels and cold coffee...

Silly title but I didn't have anything else in mind than what I am actualy eating and drinking!

So... this post is just a little report of my week-end's gigs:

On Saturday evening, went to see a friend's band in Camden Town, playing in a bar called "Camden Rock", simple and efficient name but definitely not the best bar in Camden.
I'm not gonna make any report about that friend's band but about one of the band playing after them... a teenagers band (they were looking so young... around 15, I would say) and really I didn't know if I felt like laughing or having pity for them!!! If I closed my eyes I was at a Foals gig! So exactely the same songs, but with different lyrics. And a bass player with a Sid Vicious' style, a guitariste with a Klaxons' style and the singer... ? try to guess... ??? No not Foals... try again... ???... surprisingly the band I thought about when I saw him was Korn, not really cause he had the exact look, but imagine Jonathan Davis singing in Foals and now you understand how I felt! hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha... ha.

On Sunday evening I've seen 3 bands playing at the Garage, on Highbury corner, a very good venue! I didn't know the first band playing, Deep Cut, and don't want to know more about them, it was so bad!!!!!!!!!! Gosh! Made me wish I was deaf and blind!
Then arrived on stage the very pretty Veronica Falls. James had swaped his Built To Spill tee-shirt for a marin one and Tricky had swaped his funny short trousers for a pair of jeans. ;-) They had better sound than last week at the Macbeth and I just enjoyed the entire set! They're my new fav band of the moment! I'm just waiting so much for a first EP... when? when? when?
And after that, a fantastic set by Crystal Stilts!!! I don't have to tell more about this band, just that if you don't know them yet, you've to go and buy the CD!

On Monday evening, I've seen Theoretical Gilr and Horse and Condor. A great evening wasted because of me and my mood! Why do I let everything affect me like that! I should just ignore!!!
Arrived early, met some friends had a drink, a couple of fags, and we went to see the support band Horse and Condor. Had another drink, enjoyed the gig, received 3 text messages and had a balloon landing on my head. Was my first time seeing Horse and Condor and that was good! very good! Just next time, I'll turn my mobile off before it turns my mood down! Then, had a 3rd glass of wine (trying to shift my mood back to good again), another fag, another text message. Then came an "overemotional" Amy on stage. Was a bit too much but we forgave her, was her night after all! And it didn't waste the set at all. It's just me, I don't like people who tell about their personal life on stage (cause, hey, there's blogs for that! ;-)). So yeah, her set was very good too! She started with a beautiful cover of Big Stars' Thirteen. And as I'm in love with Big Star since my teenage years, I could just appreciate! Made me feel a bit euphoric or was it the boose? Then I had to go out while she was playing Rivals, to answer the bloody phone (I wish I had not! My mood was definitely down down down, deeply going underground). Then I watched the end of the gig and staid at the Lexington with my friend to get drunk until 2am (Not the clever thing to do when you work and have to be up at 6am on the next day! Arrhhh...)

Next gig: ??? well, I don't know... I've got a tix to see Deerhunter next Monday but maybe there will be another one before... who knows? That's why we love to live in London! ;-)

Every Barbie’s got her Ken, mine is Stringfellow!

The song I’ve got in mind today is a song by The Diciplines, it's called: Yours For The Taking, it's on the album Smoking Kills.
I can already hear some people asking : «Who are they?»
Well, they are Ken Stringfellow ‘s new band!!!
«Who’s Ken Stringfellow?» keep asking the ignorants…
Ken Stringfellow, the Posies, I could dream all day, I guess you're right, ect. does it talk to you now?!

Hmm… Ken… ;-)
I’ve met him once… well not really "met" him, I’ve rather "seen" him to be exact…
Was in Paris, last January, on Saturday 31st, the day just after my sadest birthday…exactly on the same day I saw Jarvis Cocker!!! How odd is that…???!!!
Can you imagine meeting the 2 most sexy guys of the planet (according to me) on the same day!!! Isn’t it very weird? I wasn’t even supposed to be in Paris that day! I just went there because I broke up with my boyfriend and my brother offered me to come to see Of Montreal with them to cheer me up (this Of Montreal show was very grand by the way)…
So I wasn’t really in the mood but I jumped in the Eurostar, met my sister in law for a bit of shopping and then we joined my brother who was in a cafĂ© with two of his friends.
After a couple of drinks and an animated conversation about the Zombies where I managed to sell my spare ticket to his friend, we saw Ken Stringfellow!!! Arriving with, who I suppose were, his wife and their daughter… Ken Stringfellow!!!
My sister in law said she were used to fancy him and I totaly agree with her, he's very sexy!
Hmm… Ken Stringfellow…! ;-)
Then, we went to the Bataclan, and just before the gig starts I went to the bathrooms and when I came back, my brother told me : «look who’s over there!» so I had a look and couldn’t see anything unusual so I asked : «what? where?» and he said : «This is Jarvis Cocker, just here, in the audience»
It was Jarvis indeed!!!! Hmm… Jarvis… ;-)
A sexy bearded Jarvis Cocker standing just two or three steps from us… :-)
So yeah, life can be very odd like that sometimes, in my 'Barbie world'!

Even sexy dressed as a sweeper...
