Bowl haircut for Bowlie 2! ;-)

It's only 2days before Bowlie 2!!! (ATP festival curreted by Belle & Sebastian at Butlin's holiday camp, in Minehead, Somerset)

I'm so bloody excited and impatient and also stressed!
I never went to this kind of festival before. Cause believe me, this one is not the usual kind of festival we are used to go to! From everything I've seen or read or heard about it... I'm now expecting a special week-end!... a bit of an adventure ;-)

A festival happening in the middle of the winter but luckily, we won't be camping cause it's also happening in a holiday camp... and that's what is making it a bit magic, I think. I might export the concept to France and organise an alternative music festival at a Centre Parc holiday camp or in a Club Med, hahaha...
Imagine all these indie kids in a camp all together, playing a game of Bingo or two, or paticipating to a pushaton competition, in between 2 gigs, hahaha... well, if you can't visualise how it can look like, just have a look at the film trailer (cf end of this post), you'll have a better idea!

Anyway, it just promises to be a fun week-end! Perfect to forget all the christmas craziness!!

So yeah, I just can't wait to be there... I'm way too impatient!!!
9 months that we've bought our tickets, and now here we are, after waiting all this time, finaly... we're gonna invade this old Butlin's holiday camp for 3days of music and fun, wooh!
Don't know if everything would run as normal but I might even go to the huge "waterworld" swimmingpool if it's open, or go to play bowling, or go to the free funfair inside the camp, or just relax in our little challet, drinking wine and watching the atpTV, between 2 gigs :-)
(cf Butlins Minehead website here for more details about the camp!)
(cf All Tomorrow's Parties website here for complete line-up and see if they have a couple of last minute tickets left over if you wonna join the fun, but I think it's sold out)

And now here is a trailer for All Tomorrow's Parties - The movie
(a film made with footage of 10years of ATP + archives from Butlins in the 60's/70's)

I'm going christmas shopping, you're going christmas shopping, we're going...

Go hide yourself, Christmas is here!!!
Or as Allan said: it will be here soon!... Very soon indeed, before we know it...

Yes!!!! It's bloody annoying Christmas... Again!!!!! pfff...
Yes, as usual, we'll be soon rushing like a dog with his tail on fire, doing the last-minute shopping... And we'll finally get stressed and end up buying presents we'd promised ourself we'd avoid this year...
So I decided to relieve myself of all this usual painful waste of time and energy. I'm gonna follow Allan's advice and buy shitty presents now!! Thank you Allan! What would we do without you?!!! :-)

But really, I do believe it would make my christmas shopping more bearable if they stopped playing these horrible christmas carols and other Sinatra's style christmas songs in every single shops!!!!! (I've got sensible ears and this shit makes me want to puke!!!!!) urgh!!!!
Don't you think it'd be nice to hear... hmmm... I don't know... What about Sufjan Stevens (Get Behind Me Santa), or Belle&Sebastian (Twelve Days Of Christmas), or The Kinks (Father Christmas), or Snow Patrol (Just Like Christmas), or The White Stripes (Candy Cane Children), or The Waitresses (Christmas Wrapping), or The Beach Boys (Merry Christmas Baby), or Burt Bacharach (The Bell That Couldn't Jingle), etc. etc. etc.

Or even if I could hear more often Wonderful Christmastime (McCartney) instead of the usual War Is Over (Lennon) - not that it's not a great one but we'll hear it so many times at this period of the year that it will make me hate this beautiful song at the end!

Oh, and please, PLEASE, PLEEAASE, no more Jingle Bell Rock!!!! NO MORE, ok?!!!!!!

(What christmas song would YOU like to hear? La Companie Creole?... ooch!)

Don't speak to Nicolas!!!

Nicolas > This is the song I've had poping in my mind today after I turned the computer on, checked what's happening on Facebook, and read all this posts from my french friends... (6 of my french contacts had posted in the early hours this morning, and 4 of them were talking about strikes and lack of petrol for their cars... BORING!)
You'll understand by now that most of the french population is very pissed off because of one man: their dear president Nicolas!

Made me feel quite happy not being there anymore!!!
I've never been sure of anything but a day like today, I'm thinking I made the right choice when I decided to stay in London 3 years ago.

I arrived in UK 4 yrs ago and I remember I traveled back to France on May 2007, especially to vote for Ségolène... but unfortunately, as there's 53,06% of stupid people in my country, she wasn't elected.
So I just told my mum that as long as we'll have this idiot for president, I won't live in France and I came back to UK to stay.
(Since this day I didn't use my right to vote anymore. I don't consider myself as a french citizen anymore. I pay my taxes in UK and not in France anymore. And next year if I want to, I would be able to apply for naturalisation as a british citizen as it will be 5 years that I live and work in UK...)

So yeah, today, reading all french status on Fb, about strikes and lack of gas, I know I've made the good choice!
Or at least, I don't have to see ugly Nicolas anytime I open a newspaper! ;-)

And now posting this song, I'm also wondering... (something totally different but not quite different...) cause Nicolas was used to be a popular firstname... so I just wonder how many people each year keep giving this name to their newborn babyboy?... I'd be curious to see the statistic! Anyway, don't speak to Nicolas, ok?!

And also I couldn't resist to post this: PETROL POP

Do you like my old shoes?

I've got an old pair of chucks I've been wearing almost everyday over the past 4 years. And they've got big holes but I can not resign in stopping to wear them. They're my old friends... I do have a new pair but, they won't make you smile! ;-)

You can see me if you're tall!

Lately I've been crazy about a new band called Yuck! I love their songs! They stay stuck on my mind!!
And when I've seen them for the first time, the singer (Daniel Blumberg) asked his little sister to come on stage for a duo and I thought it was very cute, very touching, they completely captivated me!!! Which made my friend laugh at me... Gnn!!!
Anyway, let's come back to the subjet of the day: Yuck.
Do you guys remember about a band called Cajun Dance Party? Well, they split up and we miss them but to get us a bit of consolation, singer Daniel Blumberg and bass-player Max Bloom, have formed a new band last January called Yuck. I've already seen them 3 or 4 times and can tell you they are not bad at all!!!! I like them a lot!!! :-) Proof is that they are supporting Dinosaur Jr next month at the Shepherd's Bush Empire. Waoh!
(If you don't have yr ticket yet! Bad news for you! It's too late, it's sold out! No I'm joking, go right now on WeGotTickets, they still have a few tix on there (only there, it's already sold out on See-tickets and Ticketweb), so go on, what are you waiting for, stop reading!!! Go buy yr ticket before it's too late!!!!!!)
You've got it? Well done!!! ...or bad luck if you were not fast enough!!! In that case, you'll need a bit of consolation, go on, just download my favourite song by them: Automatic.
And I'm also giving you 3 other songs by them cause I'm in a good mood today :-)
Suicide Policeman, Georgia and Sunday.
Also don't be too sad cause If you couldn't have a ticket for the Shepherd's Bush Empire show, you can still catch them tomorrow night (The Rest Is Noise) they'll be on stage around 9.30pm, and it's only £7 so you can be happy thinking you've saved money (and with this spare money, do go to Pure Groove to buy their debut album) :-)
Have a lovely week-end my littles ducks and don't forget to enjoy the sun!

You've drunk too much again! Oh dear!!!

"You know I feel a little spaced out
I can hardly feel my feet on the ground
I hear your voice from the outside
All I wander is if you care about me
Oh my God, I wish I could talk to you
And tell those things that I know by heart
Then I'll get much closer and kiss your lips
You might think I'm fresh
But if you please don't take me wrong
All I want is that you get to want me
Don't take me wrong"

Ich Habe Gebloggt!!!! ;-)

Hey my lovelies,
I'm facing busy time at the moment... it's never been so eventful... I don't even take time to sleep properly, but I'm taking time to post that for you:

Veronica Falls - Starry Eyes (Roky Erickson cover)

...Tadam! An exclusive and rare (as the single isn't out yet and we are still waiting for an album to be released soon) version of Veronica Falls's Starry Eyes. This is a beautiful cover they've made here of an original song by Roky Erickson. And I still love more the original, but anytime I keep the Veronica's one in my mind!

For more details about Veronica Falls, cf older posts.
If you like them, don't miss them playing soon with Darren Hayman (cf older posts too ;-)), who I wish all the very best to, after his 'misadventure', I must say I feel so glad he is better now!!! And they will be playing at the Royal Albert Hall. Great venue for great artists!!! So really, it's not to be missed!!! I'll be there!!!!

And don't forget on Sunday... THE YUMMY FUR return for only a handful of shows, so be at the Lexington on Sunday evening!!!! It is something absolutely awesome that you won't have the chance to catch again in your poor miserable life!!! I'm extremely excited indeed... Can't believe I'm going to see the Yummy Fur! Yooooooohooh!!!! :-)

Changes

I'm feeling different... different in a good way!!!

So the song stuck in my mind this morning is Changes
(Not Bowie's one, Tahiti 80's one! And by the way, there's a David Bowie new release coming out on January 26th, a reality tour live CD)

Changes...
Because changes are happening, it's too late to turn back. Changes are happening, the surface begins to crack. What you had in mind, it's turning into something of another kind. So just dream anything you want to say. And make up the rules for the games you choose to play!
It's now the good time to let the past behind and just go ahead! Can't you see everything is about to change... Are you ready for something new?
It's a new year starting, it's a new life starting too!

So what is going to change concretely on this blog...

- a new "I can't seem to spend a night at home" section
(containing all the masterplans for the best evenings out according to me, because let's say it: 'Time Out' is shit!)

- a new "don't let the old things change, let one more thing stay the same" section
(if you recognise the song, you'll know it refers to our favourite places in London)

- a new "naughtyfication" section
(I don't tell more for now ;-))

plus few other little updates here and there, you will see... :-)
